China presents a four-point proposal for Middle East peace

Chinese President Xi Jinping has presented a four-point proposal for peace and stability in the Middle East.

According to international media, the Chinese president's proposal includes respecting the principle of peaceful coexistence, respecting the principle of national sovereignty, respecting the principle of the rule of international law, and respecting the coordination of development and security.

Xi Jinping made the proposal during a meeting in Beijing with a key figure from the United Arab Emirates, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The US-Israeli war with Iran has had knock-on effects in China, where its exports slowed significantly from the previous two months due to rising uncertainties and the impact the conflict has had on energy prices and global demand.

However, some economists believe that China has been able to shield itself from the worst impacts of the war. China's large oil reserves and diverse energy sources mean that it has been less affected by the consequences of the conflict, they say.
