A shooting attack at a vocational high school in the Siverek neighborhood of Sanliurfa has shocked Turkey today.

According to media reports, a former student of the school opened fire and injured 16 people, most of them students. The perpetrator is then suspected of committing the murders himself with his own gun.

The 19-year-old attacker, armed with a shotgun, opened fire at a vocational high school in Siverek, Sanliurfa province, before entering the building.

According to reports, four teachers, a cafeteria worker, and a police officer were also injured in the attack.

While most of them were being treated in Siverek, some of the injured teachers and students were transferred to a hospital in the provincial capital because their condition was more serious.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, while school shootings are rare in Turkey.

As the aftermath of the attack continues, it has been revealed that Ömer Ket had previously made threatening comments on the school's Instagram post.

In his comment, the attacker wrote: "Get ready, there will be an attack on this school in a few days, get ready, beavers."/ CNA
