New political clash between Vu?i? and Péter Magyar after the elections

Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? has reacted sharply to statements by Hungarian leader Péter Magyar, calling accusations that Russian President Vladimir Putin is playing an influential role in political relations between Serbia, Hungary and Slovakia "nonsense."

Tensions between the two sides erupted immediately after parliamentary elections in Hungary, where the Magyar Tisza Party secured a landslide victory, ending a 16-year period of political dominance by Viktor Orbán.

Magyar had stated that there are close political ties between Orbán, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, and Vu?i?, suggesting that behind these relations lies a political "kumbarlik".

Speaking to Serbian state media, Vu?i? rejected the claims and challenged Magyar to provide evidence, accusing him of spreading baseless speculation. He said that, under other circumstances, he would consider his statements irresponsible.

At the same time, Magyar also raised concerns about an incident near the TurkStream pipeline, which transports Russian gas to Hungary, where Serbian authorities had earlier announced the discovery of two bags of explosives near the pipeline at the border.

He called the incident a possible "false flag" operation, warning that his incoming government would fully investigate the case.

Vu?i?, on the other hand, said that the investigations will be completed and the results will be shared with the Hungarian side.

Despite the harsh exchanges, both leaders stressed that they remain interested in maintaining good bilateral relations between Serbia and Hungary./ CNA
