The Director of the Institute for Geopolitics in Kosovo, Sadri Ramabaja, shared details today in an interview with CNA about the situation in the country following a series of political tensions.

Regarding the figure of the new Speaker of Parliament Dimal Basha, Ramabaja spoke in appreciative tones about his preparation and election to the new position.

"The last legislature, this 9th, has unfortunately lost the legitimacy of its existence and could not produce better candidates than Dimal Basha, a lawyer graduated from a New York university and a master's degree also in New York. The noise that is being made around his figure is simply a continuation of the fight to make the constitution impossible," the expert said.

Regarding the impasse over the election of a vice president from the Serb minority, Ramabaja said that this is also related to the point set out in the constitution for two vice presidents.

Ramabaja added that a reflection until the next session could change the situation.

"The constitution requires that the last vice-president be elected. The Assembly has 5 vice-presidents, 3 belong to Albanian political forces and 2 belong to minorities, Serb and non-Serb on a rotational basis. This point was used and a fellow Serbian citizen who recognizes the Republic of Kosovo was nominated. But the candidacy was not approved and the first step failed. We are waiting to see what will happen and whether there will be any reflection until the next session," said Ramabaja. /CNA
