The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, has arrived by train in Russia where he will meet with President Vladimir Putin. Putin is currently in Vladivostok in Russia's far east, which is about 200 km (125 miles) from the North Korean border.

It is not yet known where the meeting between the two leaders will take place. Local media reports that Kim's train is heading north, away from Vladivostok. What is known for sure so far is that the meeting will take place in the coming days. 

"We are not yet telling where the talks will take place," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian journalists a few hours ago.

It is learned that Kim has brought with him senior military officials. 

The two countries are expected to finalize an arms deal that could see Pyongyang supply weapons to fuel Russia's war in Ukraine, the US has warned.

The Kremlin has said Russia is "not interested" in Washington's warnings and will instead focus on the interests of Pyongyang and Moscow.

This is Kim's first trip abroad in four years. He last met face-to-face with Putin in 2019.
