Russia launches ballistic missile attack on Kiev overnight

At least two people were injured in a Russian attack on Kiev that occurred during the night, the head of the capital's military command, Timur Tkachenko, announced.

The Ukrainian armed forces announced a ballistic missile attack on Kiev in the early hours of this morning.

International media reporters reported explosions and sparks in the sky over the Ukrainian capital, where air defense systems were activated.

As a result of the attacks yesterday, two people were killed in Russian attacks in the Dnipropetrovsk region (southeast) and Sumy (north).

Two people were also killed in Ukrainian attacks in the Russian cities of Volgograd (southwest) and Belgorod (west), and a third in Horlivka - in a Russian-occupied part of Ukraine's Donetsk region.

Russian armed forces have bombed Ukraine almost daily since February 2022, when Russia began its offensive against the neighboring country.

The war has become the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II, while diplomatic efforts to reach a peace agreement have stalled.

Ukraine has also increased its attacks in recent months, which it describes as retaliatory, against Russia and territories occupied by Moscow. /CNA
