Hezbollah Leader: US-Israel-Lebanon Agreement Is Invalid

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said Saturday that the militant group considers the US-backed agreement between Israel and Lebanon null and void, calling it a "humiliation" and a "surrender of Lebanon's sovereignty."

"We cannot accept Washington's framework agreement. It is humiliating, shameful and represents a surrender of sovereignty ," Qassem declared.

Instead, he said, the provisions of the interim agreement between the US and Iran should be implemented. He stressed that any attempt to link Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon to Hezbollah's disarmament constitutes a "red line" that cannot be crossed.

Meanwhile, Israel has established a "yellow line" in southern Lebanon, where its troops are stationed. Israeli authorities say the area serves as a security buffer to protect their citizens from Hezbollah attacks.

This line is located about 10 kilometers from the border, however, various reports claim that Israeli soldiers have operated beyond it, as far as the Litani River in Lebanese territory.

Qassem's statements come at a time of ongoing tensions on the border between Israel and Lebanon, as diplomatic efforts to stabilize the situation continue. /CNA
