An evening dedicated to Dritëro Agolli in Bern

The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Bern organized an evening at the capital's library "Kornhausbibliothek" dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the great Albanian poet and writer, Dritëro Agolli.

In the presence of about 100 participants, with Albanian students, literature lovers, teachers and friends of Albanian culture in Switzerland, we became part of an artistic journey into the life and creativity of one of the most emblematic figures of Albanian literature.

In my speech, I underlined that Agolli, through his work as a creator and intellectual, elevated the experience of the common man in art, making his poetry and prose part of our collective memory. Agolli's works will continue to remain relevant, because they speak of universal values, human dignity, love, homeland and the relationship of man with his time.

The evening was enriched with recitations by students from Albanian schools in Switzerland, musical performances by the well-known singer Mimoza Nazarko and the students themselves, rare film footage from The Writer's Life and the authentic voice of Dritëro Agolli himself.

I would like to thank in particular Mrs. Brikela Andrea and the “Kornhausbibliothek” Bern for their cooperation and willingness, as well as the teachers, students and artists for their excellent performance. At the same time, I would like to thank the “Kadare–Agolli” Museum, which made available to us the manuscripts, sketches and creative traces of Agolli.

After Bern, the Embassy will continue the cultural activities of the Year of Agoll and Kadare with an event dedicated to Ismail Kadare in Geneva during the fall of this year.
