“Sight and Sound”/ Inclusive art brings a unique experience to Korça

As part of "Europe Week 2026", the multimedia exhibition "Sight and Sound" was opened at the Digital Arts Gallery in Korça, an artistic project that combines immersive video with performance and live sound.

The exhibition comes as part of the “ANNEX” project, which aims to promote accessibility and inclusion of people with limited vision in artistic and cultural life. Through collaboration between visual artists and live vocal performance, the audience was introduced to a different form of artistic communication, where image and voice build a shared emotional experience.

The curator of the exhibition, Donika Çina, stated that the idea of ??the project is precisely the union of two different artistic languages, visual and sound. She emphasized that the project aims to show how artists who work with different forms of expression can build a common artistic work together.

"This activity is organized within the framework of the European Culture Week and is a project, a multimedia performance, which combines immersive video created by visual artists with performance and live sound interpreted by an Opera artist, who does not see, has limited vision. The whole idea of ??the project was precisely to bring together these two artists, who in a way work with different languages: with the visual language and with the language of sound and voice. And how it can be created taking into account these difficulties and these lack of expression ", said Çina.

According to her, the exhibition is part of a broader international project that aims to create more accessible spaces for people who are blind.

" This is part of a larger project called ANNEX, which is dedicated precisely to the accessibility and inclusion of people who do not see the sphere of art and culture ," said the curator.

Meanwhile, tenor Diego Zelka expressed his excitement for returning to Korça and for this special artistic experience. He said that the project came after a long time of work and that this is the first time it has been presented in this form.

" For me it is always a pleasure to return to Korça to perform. Of course I am excited like before any performance, but everything positive, absolutely. Specifically this exhibition is the first time that it has been done as an idea and developed in this way. It has been a pretty long work to get it to this point and since it is new, like everything new it needs its time for people to understand it ," said tenor Zelka.

According to Zelka, the Korçë public is expected to welcome this artistic innovation due to the strong connection the city has with culture and art.

" I think the Korçë audience will receive it very well, because since culture here is very important, I have the impression that this will be equally important and will be a very beautiful thing ," said the tenor.

The tenor also explained his role in the performance, where the voice serves as the element that connects the entire visual experience.

" I am the voice of this entire performance. So the images that will be shown will have several parts sung by me, connected into one ," he said.

The exhibition "Sight and Sound" will remain open to the public until May 22 at the Digital Arts Gallery in Korça, bringing a contemporary approach to art and the importance of cultural inclusion./CNA
