The successful film of Kosovar cinematography is shown to the public of Pogradec

The film "Zgjoi" was screened at the "Lasgush Poradeci" Cultural Center in Pogradec, one of the most successful productions of Kosovar cinematography, which brings to the public a true story, built on the pain of war, loss and women's efforts to survive.

The film "Zgjoi" centers on the story of the women of Krusha e Madhe, who after the Kosovo war were left widows, with families to support and the heavy burden of the absence of their husbands, many of whom are still missing today.

The film's main character is inspired by Fahrije Hoti, the woman who became a symbol of strength and resilience. Amidst emotions, she has shown that the film reflects the reality of her life and that of many other women, who after 1999 were forced to take on the responsibility of their families and rebuild their lives from the ruins of war.

From that tragedy, several women came together and began producing ajvar, turning a job that was viewed with prejudice at the time into a model of success and survival. What began as a need for daily bread later turned into a story of dignity, work, and unity.

The Deputy Mayor of Pogradec Municipality, Entela Gusho, said that such stories show the difficult period that Kosovo Albanians have gone through, but also the strength of women not to give up. According to her, the united women managed not only to survive, but also to build something that continues to be successful today.

"Zgjoi" has been widely praised in the international arena. Beyond its artistic success, the film remains a strong reminder of the still open wounds of the war in Kosovo. Even today, thousands of Albanians are missing and their families continue to wait for the truth about the fate of their loved ones./ CNA
