Yesterday, the VII Assembly of the Reorganization of the League of Writers and Artists of Albania was held, attended by representatives of associations from all over Albania.

At yesterday's meeting, the president of the Albanian Society of Music was elected, a position which was taken by the poet and scholar Mujë Buçpapaj with a majority of votes.

Buçpapaj represents one of the most prominent voices of contemporary Albanian culture. Also present at the Assembly was the president of the Kosovo Writers' League, Shyqri Galica.

Tirana, May 19, 2026. On Tuesday, in the premises of the Tirana International Hotel, the VII Assembly of the Reorganization of the League of Writers and Artists of Albania took place, an event of particular importance for Albanian literary, artistic and cultural life, attended by delegates from the branches of the LSHA, as well as representatives of associations, literary and cultural clubs from across the country and Albanian territories in the region.

The Assembly's proceedings were conducted in the spirit of open dialogue, institutional responsibility and the vision of strengthening the role of Albanian creators in the public and cultural life of the country. The discussions focused on the need to modernize the activities of the Albanian Cultural Association, expand inter-Albanian and international cultural cooperation, and provide stronger support for Albanian literature and art in times of new cultural and social challenges.

The Voting Commission, elected by the Assembly, after the completion of the secret ballot process and the counting of votes for the election of the President of the Albanian High Council of State, declared the winner with an absolute majority of votes Dr. Mujë Buçpapaj, an internationally recognized poet, literary scholar, university lecturer and publisher of the literary and cultural newspaper "Nacional".

The figure of Dr. Mujë Buçpapaj represents one of the most prominent voices of contemporary Albanian culture. He has directed the International Center of Culture “Pjetër Arbnori” for several years, then the Albanian Copyright Office, and currently directs the Institute of National Studies and publishes the literary and cultural newspaper, the weekly Nacional. Through his creativity, studies and public activity, he has distinguished himself as an important promoter of Albanian literature in the international arena and of European cultural values ??in the Albanian space, as well as the protection of the interests of Albanian writers and artists.

The Assembly was also greeted by the President of the Kosovo Writers' League, Prof. Dr. Shyqri Galica, as well as representatives of Albanian cultural and literary organizations from the region, who praised the historical role of the LSHA in the protection and development of national cultural identity.

The League of Writers and Artists of Albania was established in 1945 and, after the '90s, was transformed into a pluralistic literary and artistic organization, continuing to remain one of the most representative institutions of Albanian cultural life.
