Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? announced today at a rally of his party in front of the Serbian Parliament that he will resign from office within a few weeks. 

"This is probably the last time I will address you as President of the Republic. I have served my country faithfully for 14 years. I love Serbia more than anything else in the world. I have never been interested in anyone else's interests. I have never wanted to serve anyone other than the citizens of Serbia. They said I would never leave the presidency, these are my last days and weeks as President of the Republic ," Vu?i? said at the SNS rally in front of the Parliament.

Vu?i? also announced the holding of early elections, but did not give a fixed date for when he could dissolve parliament. 

The Serbian president also said he would help his party win elections, including early parliamentary elections, initially scheduled for 2027.

He said that he will propose that the list with which he will compete in the upcoming elections be called "United Serbia", Serbian media write.

"This is the most beautiful slogan we can have ," Vu?i? said.

Among other things, in his speech, Vu?i? stated that some people were appointed to positions that they did not deserve.

"We made a lot of mistakes, people we appointed who did not deserve your trust, people who cared about themselves and not about you. We need to get rid of such people quickly. Did we make political mistakes? Yes, but we have always stood by our country ," he said. /CNA
