With a range of 6,000 km, Turkey unveils new intercontinental ballistic missile

Turkey has publicly unveiled its new intercontinental ballistic missile, the Yildirimhan, for the first time at the SAHA 2026 international defense industry exhibition in Istanbul, marking another step in the development of the country's long-range strategic strike capabilities.

The missile was developed by the Turkish Ministry of Defense's Research and Development Center and, according to data presented at the exhibition, can reach speeds of up to Mach 25 (about 8.5 kilometers per second) and has a range of up to 6,000 kilometers.

The "Yildirimhan" system uses liquid nitrogen tetroxide as fuel and has four rocket engines, characteristics that, according to Turkish sources, rank it among the most advanced missile platforms developed by Turkey to date.

The presentation took place within the framework of the SAHA 2026 International Defense and Aerospace Exhibition, where Turkish defense industries and state agencies present new technological systems in fields such as air defense, unmanned systems, aviation and space technologies.

Strengthening the defense industry

Yildirimhan's revelation comes at a time when Ankara is accelerating investments in its domestic defense industry, with a particular focus on developing long-range missile systems, unmanned platforms and space technologies.

The SAHA 2026 exhibition, organized by SAHA Istanbul, has developed in recent years into one of the most important defense industry events in the region, attracting international companies, military delegations and procurement officials. /CNA
