Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has reacted after several provocative photos of her circulated on social media.
Meloni has stated that the photos are fake and made with artificial intelligence and were probably distributed by one of her political opponents.
"These days, some fake photos of me are circulating, created with artificial intelligence and presented as real by some zealous opponent.
I must admit that the one who made them, at least in the attached case, has even 'improved' me quite a bit.
But the fact remains that, just to attack and invent lies, today literally everything is used.
However, the issue goes beyond me. Deepfakes are a dangerous tool, because they can deceive, manipulate, and hurt anyone. I can defend myself. Many others cannot.
"Therefore, one rule should always apply: verify before you believe and do not share before you think. Because today it happens to me, tomorrow it can happen to anyone," Meloni writes./ CNA
