Thaçi's lawyer confirms / Here's when the final decision will

The final decision on the trial of former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi and other former KLA leaders Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi has been postponed to July 20. The news was confirmed to the media in Kosovo by Thaçi's lawyer, Luka Mishetic.

"I can confirm that this is correct ," Misetic stated when asked whether the report about the postponement of the decision to July 20 was accurate or not.

The final decision was initially expected to be issued on May 19, within the established procedural deadlines. However, according to the Rules of Procedure of the Special Court, the trial panel has 90 days to announce the verdict, with the possibility of an extension of up to an additional 60 days.

Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, to which all four have pleaded not guilty. The prosecution has requested that they be found guilty and sentenced to 45 years in prison each, but the defense teams have argued that there is no evidence for the alleged crimes and have requested their release. /CNA
