Israel orders evacuation of several towns in southern Lebanon

The Israeli military has warned residents of several towns and villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate, as it prepared for new attacks across the area, despite a ceasefire between the two countries. 

The army said it was carrying out operations against Iran-backed Hezbollah, which it said was violating the ceasefire agreement. 

"For your safety, you must immediately evacuate your homes and move away from villages and towns at least 1,000 meters [3,300 feet] to open areas ," Arabic-language army spokesman Avichay Adraee wrote on "X."

Eleven villages and towns were included in the warning, including several in Nabatieh, a district north of the Litani River. Israeli troops are occupying a strip of southern Lebanon, south of the river.

Lebanese media later reported Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon, including in towns that were not advised to evacuate. /CNA
