Gun attack at President Trump's dinner/What is known so far about the perpetrator

A gunman attacked the lobby of the Hilton Hotel in Washington, where US President Donald Trump was also present, as the event known as the White House Correspondents' Dinner was taking place.

The suspect has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California.

Security video released by Trump shows Colle Tomas Allen running through metal detectors and officers turning on him with their weapons raised. The security officers then rush towards him.

District Attorney Jeanine Pirro said the suspect was initially charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and assault on a police officer, but other charges could be added later.

The perpetrator has been arrested and will appear in federal court on Monday. /CNA
