The boat with immigrants sinks / 6 drowned in the English Channel

A ship with emigrants headed for Great Britain sank in the early hours of Saturday in the English Channel.

This event was confirmed by the French authorities, who announced that five to ten passengers are considered missing, while another 55 have been rescued.

Unfortunately, 6 illegal immigrants lost their lives from the sinking of the ship. The first victim was a man aged 25-30 of Afghan origin.

The search for the other missing persons is currently ongoing. Three French ships, a helicopter and a plane have been mobilized to search the area near Sangate in northern France.

Two British ships are also participating in the search and rescue operations.

The French Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, reacted to this event, who expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and encouraged the efforts of the rescue teams./ CNA
