The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against the president of the Republika Srpska entity, Milorad Dodik, as well as against the director of the official newspaper of the Republika Srpska, Milosh Luki?, who are accused of the criminal offense of not implementing the decisions of the high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt.

The news was confirmed by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZPBH) to Radio Free Europe (REL) on August 11.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina told REL on Friday that it had received a request for confirmation of the indictment against Dodik and Luki? from the ZPHB.

On July 9, the Prosecutor's Office formed a team consisting of three prosecutors, after Dodik's decree was published in the official gazette of the Republika Srpska, regarding the non-publication of the decisions of High Representative Schmidt.

According to Dodik's decree, the decisions of the High Representative will no longer be published in the Bosnian Serb entity, nor will they be respected, as well as the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will not be valid in the territory of the Serbian entity in this place.

On July 1, Schmidt annulled the anti-Dayton laws passed by the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska entity, regarding the non-publication of decisions of the high representative and the non-implementation of decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Schmidt also made a decision to amend the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina so that actions that violate the constitutional order are treated as a criminal offense.

"The assemblies of the entities do not have the authority to avoid the provisions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and they do not have the right to avoid the jurisdiction of the key Dayton institutions," Schmidt said in explaining the decisions on July 1.

The US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina supported Schmidt's decisions and warned that "there will be consequences" for the actions of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska entity.

"The United States supports the sovereignty, territorial integrity and multi-ethnic character of Bosnia-Herzegovina and will continue to hold individuals involved in anti-Dayton behavior accountable for their actions," the US embassy said in a statement./ REL
