Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, requested on Friday that the works for the construction of a road connecting Prizren with Tetova, start as soon as possible.

Speaking during a visit to inaugurate the renaming of a road on August 11 in North Macedonia, Kurti said that the Prizren-Tetovo road would significantly help the development of Kosovo and North Macedonia.

"The axis that connects Prizren with Tetova is an agreement between our two governments, from the joint meeting, signed by the two prime ministers, that is, by me and the Macedonian counterpart [Dimitar] Kovacevski. Therefore, we want this feasibility study to be followed as soon as possible with the works and the realization of this major project", said Kurti.

In September 2021, the Government of Kosovo and the Macedonian Government signed the agreement for the construction of the road that would connect Prizren in the south of Kosovo with Tetova in the northwest of North Macedonia.

Kurti emphasized that he expects the Government of North Macedonia to "commit to this project", for which he said there is a feasibility study.

"Based on the calculations, it is not a high cost, it is an affordable cost. But the return on this investment is extraordinary, since the road is shortened and time is gained, both the citizens and the economy benefit," underlined Kurti in the highland village of Tetova, Vicë.

Prime Minister Kurti visited Çairi in Skopje, where he participated in the inauguration of the renaming of a street with the name of the Kosovar activity "Adem Demaçi" in the municipality of Çairi.

Kurti did not meet with the representatives of the political parties in power during this visit to North Macedonia, but was accompanied by opposition leaders, the head of the Democratic Movement, Izet Mejhiti, the head of Besa, Bilall Kasami, and the head of Alternative, Afrim Gashi./ REL
