The case of Irena Gjoka/ GJKKO rejects the DP's request

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has decided not to accept the request of representatives of the Democratic Party to transfer the case of Judge Irena Gjoka to another court, as well as the request to exclude Judge Marinela Osmani from reviewing the case.

The request was filed by Adriana Kalaja and Jamarbër Malltezi, who claimed that Gjoka cannot be tried within the same court where she exercises her function and that the process should be transferred to another jurisdiction.

The court, through Judge Rudina Palloj, assessed that there were no legal grounds for accepting the request and decided to dismiss it.

The next hearing is scheduled for May 19, while SPAK has requested the suspension of criminal proceedings in this case.

The case is related to a complaint filed by the Democratic Party, alleging that Judge Irena Gjoka failed to declare a previous conviction in Greece. According to SPAK, the decision was made in absentia and it is not proven that she was aware of it, while criminal prosecution in this case is considered statute-barred./ CNA
