Prosecution, letter to the CEC/ The final sentence in Greece for the mayor of

Kreshnik Hajdari, the mayor of Kuçova, has been convicted by a final decision in Greece. The information has been officially forwarded by the General Prosecutor's Office to the Central Election Commission, as part of the verifications on the criminal past of public officials.

According to the Prosecution's letter, Hajdari was convicted in 1999 by the Court of Ioannina for illegal entry into Greek territory, at a time when he was 17 years old and a minor. At that time, a re-education measure was imposed on him, but this fact was not stated in the relevant decriminalization forms.

Meanwhile, the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has also found Hajdari guilty of the criminal offense of “forgery of seals, stamps or forms.” With the decision dated January 25, 2024, the court replaced the one-year prison sentence with 150 hours of public service.

Following the investigation, SPAK took Hajdar into custody and charged him with forgery of forms, just one day after the CEC decided not to terminate his mandate as mayor of Kuçova.

The prosecution has asked the CEC to consider the information provided, while the matter is expected to be followed by other institutional developments./ CNA
