DP MP raises his voice for Mirdita: A region with history cannot be hidden,

DP MP, Gjin Gjoni, reacted after the publication of the news that the Mirditë Municipality is among 14 municipalities that could be affected by a territorial reorganization.

Gjoni is against any initiative to merge the Mirditë Municipality, describing such a decision as a violation of the history and identity of this region. The Democratic Party MP calls on the people of Mirditë to unite beyond political and social divisions to oppose any change that, according to him, violates the identity of the region.

"Don't you dare touch Mirdita...

I was scandalized when I saw that among the 14 municipalities at risk of merger is the Municipality of Mirdita.

I have no idea who that evil mind is that has decided to melt down a region that, for centuries, has been a symbol of endurance and resistance in the name of Albanianism.

To erase from the map the Mirdita of Abati and Fishta, who gave Albania the alphabet, to erase from the map the Mirdita of the Gjomarkajs and the great doors, whose sons gave their lives from Chameria to the Red Apple, is a crime that history will not forgive anyone who signs for it.

I invite the people of Mirdi to put aside their divisions in the face of this filth and to commit to preventing this from happening.

"As a deputy of Lezha District, I will work to ensure that this does not happen and my door is open to anyone who thinks that Mirdita should not be violated," the deputy writes./ CNA
