SP-PD agreement on new Assembly Rules/OSCE: Positive step

The OSCE Presence in Tirana has reacted to the consensus adoption of changes to the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, calling it a positive step for political dialogue and the functioning of parliamentary democracy.

It is further added that the changes reflect a decision of the Constitutional Court, strengthen reciprocity between the majority and the opposition, and expand the space for a more active participation of all forces in parliament.

It also states that the implementation of the Regulation will be essential for further progress on Albania's reform priorities.

"The OSCE Presence welcomes the adoption by consensus by the parliament of the amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly. This marks a positive step for political dialogue and for the functioning of parliamentary democracy. The amendments reflect a decision of the Constitutional Court, strengthen reciprocity between the majority and the opposition, and expand the space for a more active participation of all forces in parliament. Proper implementation of the Rules of Procedure will be essential to ensure an inclusive and effective parliamentary practice and to support further progress on Albania's reform priorities," the reaction states.

The new Rules of Procedure of the Assembly were approved with 100 votes in favor, 0 abstentions and 1 against. Lëvizja Bashke MP Redi Muça was the only legislator to vote against the new changes to the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, while the MPs of the DP and SP voted in favor. /CNA
