Illness and Divorce/ Saimir Vishaj: Woe to the one who suffers loneliness

Lawyer Saimir Vishaj has revealed on the Rudina show his battle with the serious illness and the interventions he has had to undergo.

Vishaj confessed that due to his illness, his life is now between Albania and America.

"I was leaving a court hearing on April 29, 2025, when I suddenly fell to the ground, I don't know the reason. I am very regular in getting check-ups and tests. The only thing they hadn't done was a colonoscopy and I went to Italy half dead. They then discovered that I had colon cancer, which had spread to several foci in my lungs. I underwent almost 12 hours of robotic surgery in Italy, where I removed the cancer and am currently between America and Albania, where we are giving the final touches to two or three small foci of cancer in my body. Not doing it led me to a coma three times. I have been intubated three times, where I was playing with my life for minutes, for seconds."

Vishaj has indicated that he will now have to take life more gently and not stress so that nothing affects his health.

"I shouldn't stress, I should take life more gently, because in 35 years as a lawyer, I also experienced events and maybe this was one of the consequences of this disease coming and worsening so quickly."

Vishaj further spoke about his divorce from his wife.

"We came from the USA, after we had undergone part of the chemotherapy, which we were going to continue in Albania. My wife couldn't stomach the fact that we would be living in Albania and one fine day, after 2-3 days, she told me 'I'm going to go get a molar fixed' and never came home. Then I found out that she had gone to her two kids in America and is there today. I filed for a legal divorce, ending the marriage. Intentionally, unintentionally, it happened!"

The lawyer said that loneliness is one of the biggest wounds he has had to face during this period, which he said he is suffering greatly from.

"Woe to the one who suffers loneliness. It is better to die than to be lonely. Loneliness, especially for men, is very difficult. Starting to wash the dishes, do the laundry, clean, do the chores, do the most mundane tasks, get dressed for work and then sleep alone at night is very difficult. Sometimes I say I would rather have died than feel lonely. But here I am, I am coping now, I am used to it. This is fate."
