The Head of the State Police, Skënder Hita, during an inter-institutional meeting in Saranda, spoke about the arrests in the police ranks in the case of illegal construction on the coast.

Hita has stated that it is unacceptable for a police officer to become a party to lawbreakers.

The Head of the State Police has stated that when a police officer or law enforcement agency deviates from the law, not only is the institution damaged, but citizens' trust in the state and justice is violated.

"Today we are not here just to talk about a case of illegality. We are here to give a clear message: no one is above the law and the uniform of the State Police will never be used as a shield for illegality."

I feel regretful and at the same time determined, because in one of the most important police stations in the country, which functions at the local directorate level, managers and employees of various levels have been arrested due to their involvement in favoring and allowing unauthorized construction.

This is unacceptable for the integrity of the State Police. It is unacceptable for me, as the Director General of the State Police, for a police officer to become a party to lawbreakers. Anyone who wears the uniform of the State Police must be on the side of the law and the citizens, not on the side of lawlessness.

"When a police officer or law enforcement agency deviates from the law, not only is the institution damaged, but citizens' trust in the state and justice is violated. For this very reason, our reaction must be immediate, strong and without any compromise," Hita declared./ CNA
