"He was abandoned by his parents"/ Therapist tells the story of the child who defied autism and Down syndrome

Therapist Debora Zelaj recounted one of the most special cases in her career on the podcast "Different, but together" on CNA TV.

Zelaj told the case of a child with Down syndrome and autism, who was abandoned by his biological parents after birth and none of her colleagues agreed to work with him.

The therapist stated in the podcast "Different, but Together" on CNA TV that the child had numerous motor difficulties and aggressive behavior, but while working with him, the successes in this case were not small.

The therapist indicated that the achievements in this case were great as the child had learned to drink on his own, dance, and laugh.

"A case I would like to highlight was the case of a child with Down syndrome and autism, who was abandoned by his biological parents after birth. With numerous non-verbal motor difficulties, aggressive behavior and none of his colleagues agreed to work with him. My first doubts were what I would be able to teach this child with two hours of therapy a week. But the successes were not small. He learned to say his first words, learned to drink from a glass by himself, dance and came home smiling. Every small achievement is a very big success", confessed therapist Debora Zelaj./ CNA
