Exclusive/ Lulzim Basha towards the creation of a new party

The dismissed and then resigned chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, the man who in 8 years registered only catastrophic electoral losses, seems to have already remained outside the walls of the Democratic Party. From one of its main executives, Basha has been transformed into a lonely man that no one in the DP loves him anymore.

Although Berisha or others are trying to reach out, playing with the scheme that Basha shouldn?t leave, or those who support him should be there together, it seems that the former democratic leader now has another solution. Sources close to Lulzim Basha told CNA.al that he is preparing to create a new party.

Basha has almost everything, the formula, the structure and the people who will support him. He is expected to have at least 7 deputies, as a move to create a separate parliamentary group, outside that of the Democratic Party. On the other hand Basha is negotiating with some DP branch chairmen or his supporters to establish a new party.

A liberal, pro-american party as Basha calls it, hoping to get the votes of people who are dissatisfied with the fact that Berisha has returned to the helm of the DP, after being declared non-grata by the US.

And one of his main arguments is that the former Prime Minister will never defeat Edi Rama, as the americans will not allow him to return to power. Therefore, Basha sees as the only solution, the creation of a new political force, where he can gather his liberals, a group of deputies, but also some of DP branch chairmen.

Basha is currently negotiating with a number of names. It is rumored that other public figures, people who have previously supported Lulzim Basha, may be attached to his movement. Some people who are today in political office in the secretariat of the Democratic Party, who have publicly expressed dissatisfaction or have stated that if Berisha returned to the helm of the Democratic Party, they would leave this party.

Some names mentioned are Jemin Gjana, Henri Çili, Fitim Zekthi, Vehap Kola, Ergys Mërtiri, Ervis Iljazi, Enkelejd Alibeaj, Gazmend Bardhi, Kreshnik Çollaku, Baton Haxhiu, Grida Duma and Roland Bejko.

Now is expected only the time when Basha will publicly announce his movement, his new party which, as he claims, as happened recently in a meeting with some DP branch chairman, where he unveiled the idea of a new party, that will be liberal and pro-american./CNA.al
