EU membership begins when we face the reality of where we are

The European Parliament approved the report on Albania, within the framework of negotiations with the EU.

The first good news: the EU continues its support for Albania.

The second piece of good news: “The enlargement process depends on strict conditionality, merit-based progress and effective implementation of reforms, not just on the formal adoption of legislation” - So there is no integration so to speak, or membership without being a member.

We need to step up, improve standards.

Reality, what the report notes:

-Corruption remains a serious concern and requires strengthening of investigations and punishments, especially at high levels;

-The electoral framework is generally considered adequate, but concerns are expressed about the level playing field, misuse of administrative resources, accusations of vote buying and pressure on voters.

-Calls for comprehensive electoral reform and implementation of OSCE/ODIHR and Venice Commission recommendations;

-Expresses concern about political polarization and conflicting discourse that harms the functioning of democratic institutions;

-Stronger protection of freedom of expression and media pluralism;

-Requires depoliticization of public administration and recruitment based on merit;

-Expresses concern about the lack of progress on the environment and climate;

So, we have a whole sea ahead of us.

Most of these problems don't require money to solve.

They demand POLITICAL WILL and accountability from those in power!

The first step is to accept reality, not hide it under the guise of manipulating the public that "we are moving at a fast pace."

The second step is to take it seriously and improve standards. To officially give up the pretense that we will be accepted for geopolitics, geostrategy, because of China and because of Russia.
