An icon passed away, the noble resistance fighter Klara Mirakaj-Merlikaj

These days, an iconic woman of the anti-communist resistance, exiled for 45 years by the communist dictatorship, the daughter of the anti-communist fighter Pashuk Bibë Mirakaj, the daughter-in-law of the son of the Albanian Prime Minister Mustafa Merlika Kruja, passed away.

She was interned as a child in the infamous camps of Tepelena-Berat and Lushnja, she went as a young girl full of youthful dreams, she returned to Tirana tired and massacred by the tortures of the State Security in 1991 in Tirana.

She had a resistance and pride in the face of the massacres of communism, but during the dictatorship she had a joy, she married Fatos Merlika, the prominent son of Mustafa Kruja Merlika. Her family knew prisons and internments but she faced all of these like an invincible Nora of Kelmendi!

With the advent of pluralism, she was an eyewitness to the crimes of communism that had been perpetrated on the noble families of the north by the bloodthirsty regime of the brutal dictator Enver Hoxha.

Her family and fellow sufferers lost not only an icon of resistance but also a brave anti-communist. One less witness in the face of Albanian society, which is ruled by the descendants of the dictatorship and has taken hostage the democracy that Klara Mirakaj and hundreds of thousands like her fought to bring to Albania.
