The International Monodrama Festival, in its 20th edition, started on Thursday evening in Korça. The municipality of Maliq, in cooperation with the Cultural Center, decided to hold this edition for 7 consecutive days in the city of Korça, while the last day will culminate precisely in Maliq, at the Palace of Culture, with a very special organization. This edition started with one of the most meaningful performances, that of "Burrnesha", a role that the Ukrainian actress, Maryna Ivashchenko, brought to this monodrama.

For the second time, she returns to the city of Korça, as a participant in this festival, showing her impressions of the city and the hospitality of the people of Korça. As for the work that she brought to this part of the festival, the actress is quite satisfied with the performance and the story that this work carries in itself. A story of an Albanian woman who best suited the character of the actress by adapting to the role.

"I felt very good, it's a pleasure for me to come to this festival. It's my second time and I thank all the organizers because they organized it very well. The people are interesting, Korça is beautiful, I also like the role", she said.

The theatrical work was brought to this edition under the auspices of the Albanian director Valbona Xibri, who has been living in Italy for years. She has shown that this performance is built not only with text, but also interwoven with dance, video, music and gestures, which makes it even more special. For the director, this work is one of the most beautiful that she has worked on, emphasizing the fact that it has also won awards at some of the festivals where it has appeared.

"Today I came with a theatrical performance called "Burrnesha", the story of one of the Albanian burrneshas performed in Italian with a Ukrainian actress. I am Albanian and it is a very simple story but also interesting because it is built not only with text but also with video, live music, gestures, a show that takes on several theatrical forms. it has nothing to do with gender or other arguments. It's just that a girl, for various reasons, can't inherit, because she can't marry the boy proposed by her family, so as not to create revenge or problems between families, they decide to dress and act like men. It's very interesting because the actress is very good, we worked with improvisations, every scene that is seen is specially built for this story. It is a show that has participated in many festivals , has won awards such as "Best Dramaturgy", "Best Direction", a show that has deserved its place", said Xibri.

The director of the Cultural Center in Maliq, Festim Tomorri, says that this year they tried to bring something different, working hard to organize the festival together with the mayor of Maliq, Gëzim Topçiu. In this festival there will be 7 different shows, with actors from Bulgaria, Spain, Poland, Turkey and finally, Kazakhstan. Precisely the last show of this 20th edition will be the climax, with the well-known work "Medea" and it will appear on the improvised stage of the Palace of Culture in Maliq.

"We bring 7 shows, the edition starts today, it's the 20th, we try, enjoy and feel our difficulties to make it happen because not everyone helps. We are developing the festival year by year, this is the 20th year. We come with today's show, which is a collaboration with an Albanian woman and a Ukrainian woman who live in the same place in Italy and bring an Albanian show , with Bulgaria, Spain, Poland, Turkey and finally we close with distant Kazakhstan, which comes with the show "Medea". A show that we all know, comes with a family conflict and will take place in the Palace of Culture in Maliq , on our stage which is not a stage but we have invented it and there we will give the festival's opening ceremony. Today we will have the opening of the festival, while the closing will take place in Maliq, with a small artistic concert, words from the mayor and I thank him for his help this year together with the ministry", he said.

The opening of this International Monodrama Festival undoubtedly brought an interesting atmosphere inside the Korca Cathedral, where participants and art lovers enjoyed the performance of the Ukrainian actress.

Amid applause, the actress was also given a trophy for her success on this first evening. At the end of the festival, prizes will be awarded and a concert will be organized in Maliq, to ??close this 20th edition of the festival. /CNA
