The famous poet from Korça, Skender Rusi

The well-known poet from Korça, Skender Rusi, has passed away at the age of 72.

Rusi is known as the lyricist of Albanian letters and as the poet who wrote so much about love.

His poems are so strongly read by everyone because Rusi, since he was a student in Shkodër, brought lyrical poetry like no one else, poetry which he cultivated with so much love until his last breath.

He wrote so strongly even about his best friends because Russia was so much more social than any other poet.

The poetic creativity of Skënder Rusi is the greatest asset that the poet left to Devolli, where he was born and raised, and to Korça, where he spent most of his life, just as he left a poetic asset to all of Albania.

For more than four decades, he has been successfully cultivating Albanian lyrics.

Skender Rusi was born in 1952 in Korça and has completed his higher studies in language and literature. In 1984 he graduated in dramaturgy and in 1998 he became a library director in Cairo.

He has published 8 books of poetry and two of his plays have been staged by the "AZ Çajupi" theater troupe. His creations have been included in the anthologies of several European countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Macedonia, Kosovo, Greece, etc.

For 12 years, he has been the chairman of the Writers' Club "Bota e Re" in Korça.

For 7 years, he organized and directed the biggest cultural activity in Korça: "Korça Nights of Poetry" with invited poets from Kosovo, Greece, Macedonia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, etc.

In 2021, Russia was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen" of Korça/ CNA
