US President Donald Trump is expected to be on the list of 287 candidates for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
The announcement comes from the secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Christian Berg Harpviken. The nominees include 208 individuals and 79 organizations, many of whom were not nominated for the prize last year.
Despite the fact that the number of conflicts around the world is increasing and international cooperation is under pressure, the price remains significant.
"The Nobel Peace Prize is even more important in a time like the one we are living in. There is just as much good work being done, if not more, than ever before," said Harpviken.
The leaders of Cambodia, Israel and Pakistan have said they have nominated the US president for the Nobel Peace Prize. However, there is no way to confirm this, as the list of candidates has remained secret for 50 years and Harpviken declined to comment on the information. /CNA
