WHO vs. Elon Musk: It's spreading fake news

The World Health Organization today accused Elon Musk, without mentioning his name, of spreading "fake news", after the billionaire entrepreneur, with his tweet, called on countries "not to delegate their authority" to the Organization on the occasion of the draft agreement on dealing with pandemics.

"The statement that the agreement will transfer powers to the WHO is simply wrong. It is fake news," said the head of the Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Musk, whose Twitter account has more than 132 million followers, was commenting on a video posted by far-right Australian senator Malcolm Roberts criticizing the WHO .

"Countries do not grant sovereign rights to the WHO. The Pandemic Agreement will not change this. The agreement will help countries better deal with pandemics. This will help us better protect people, regardless of whether they live in rich or poor countries," Ghebreyesus replied for his part./CNA
