US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told lawmakers on Wednesday that the State Department is conducting an analysis of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and will share its findings with Congress by mid-April.

"We've been working to gather the necessary information, to make sure we learn the lessons," Mr. Blinken said at a Senate committee hearing.

"Unë jam i përkushtuar dhe i vendosur që t’ia vëmë në dispozicion këtë informacion Kongresit dhe ne do ta bëjmë një gjë të tillë. Ne do ta bëjmë këtë deri në mes të prillit. Ne do t’i ndajmë përfundimet dhe do të gjejmë mekanizmin e duhur për ta bërë këtë brenda tre javëve të ardhshme", tha ai.

Anëtarët e Kongresit kanë kërkuar informacion në lidhje me tërheqjen e gushtit 2021 nga Afganistani pas 20 vjetësh të luftës më të gjatë të Shteteve të Bashkuara.

John Kirby, the White House Homeland Security spokesman, told reporters that highlights from the analysis will be released and shared with the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Republicans, who took control of the House in January, say there has never been a full explanation of the chaotic operation in which 13 American soldiers were killed at Kabul airport.

Hundreds of American citizens and thousands of Afghans who had worked with American forces were stranded at the airport as they tried to flee the Taliban, the militant Islamic group that has retaken control of Afghanistan./ VOA
