Attack on Salman Rushdies

Writer Salman Rushdie was attacked on Friday as he was about to speak at the Chautauqua Institute in New York.

According to the Associated Press, a man got on stage and attacked the 75-year-old writer after the presentation, while the latter fell. The attacker was then arrested.

New York State Police said writer Salman Rushdie has a wound to his neck, which was caused by the knife attack. According to the New York police statement, the 75-year-old writer was transported by helicopter to a hospital, while the attacker is in custody. The health condition of the writer is still unknown.
