Russia takes new measures against a group covering the war in Ukraine

Russian authorities have blocked the main social media account of the group that oversees the work of the police, OVD-Info, as this group has also covered Moscow's war against Ukraine.

OVD-Info said that his account on VK, which is the largest social network in Russia, has been blocked by order of prosecutors.

OVD-Info, which is a non-governmental organization that collects data on arrests and detentions across the country, said the Prosecutor General's Office has stated that the group's reports regarding the number of casualties of Ukrainian civilians and Russian troops are "false ".

The organization's main website was blocked in December after a Russian court accused the OVD-Info group of promoting terrorism and extremism.

The appeals court later overturned the decision, but the group's website remained blocked and OVD-Info was forced to create a new website.
