Latvia designates Russia as a "state sponsor of terrorism"

Latvia's parliament on Thursday designated Russia a "state sponsor of terrorism" over the war in Ukraine and called on Western allies to impose more comprehensive sanctions on Moscow in order to end the conflict.

"Latvia considers Russia's actions in Ukraine to be genocide against the Ukrainian people," said a resolution of the Latvian parliament.

Western countries should increase their military, financial, humanitarian and diplomatic support for Ukraine and support initiatives that condemn Russia's actions, the resolution continues.

Ministri i Jashtëm i Ukrainës Dmytro Kuleba tha se ishte mirënjohës për rezolutën e parlamentit letonez.

"Ukraina u bën thirrje shteteve dhe organizatave të tjera që të ndjekin shembullin e Letonisë", shkruan zoti Kuleba në "Twitter".

Rusia e dënoi rezolutën e parlamentit letonez, duke e cilësuar një veprim ksenofobik, sipas një postimi të zëdhënëses së Ministrisë së Jashtme ruse, Maria Zakharova në rrjetin "Telegram"./ VOA
