US Ambassador to NATO: The era of America paying for Europe's defense is over

US Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, has made a reaction regarding a meeting to be held between NATO and the US this week.

Whitaker says in his response to "X" that the era of America paying for Europe's defense is over. He further adds that the United States demands action, not words, from its allies.

"This week's meeting between the US and NATO is about NATO 3.0. The era of America footing an extraordinary bill for Europe's defense is over. Led by President Trump's "America First" Foreign Policy, the United States demands action, not words, from our allies ," the ambassador's post reads.

We recall that relations between the US and Europe have been strained due to the war with Iran. Several European countries expressed opposition to the US military operation in Iran and refused to take part in it.   /CNA
