German police said Friday that several people were taken hostage during a bank robbery in the western city of Sinzig. The driver of a cash-in-transit vehicle is among those being held hostage.
"It is currently believed that there are several perpetrators and hostages inside the bank. The situation is stable," a police statement said.
It is not clear how many suspects are involved, or what weapons they may possess.
The incident was reported in the city center, in the regional state of Rhineland-Palatinate, while police have launched extensive operations and cordoned off a large area. /CNA
