How Plarent Ndreca exerted pressure on justice

For more than a year, since the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj on 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses, a campaign of media attacks against justice, prosecutors, and judges has begun.

A campaign of attacks, where the most unprecedented act is the involvement of the media and their use as a tool to carry out attacks with the aim of intimidating, threatening, and blackmailing prosecutors and judges.

The same scheme is repeated time and time again. Every time there is a trial of Veliaj, before the hearings, Veliaj, the media close to him, his lawyers from lobbying law firms and those of the defendants, as in the case of Plarent Ndreca, start with scenarios and schemes of pressure and attack against the relevant prosecutors or judges of the case.

This also happened 24 hours ago, before the hearing taking place today at the Administrative Court for the ridiculous lawsuit against prosecutor Ols Dado, where Erion Veliaj's defendant lawyer appeared at a press conference to exert open and public pressure.

This public appearance was used to level accusations regarding the progress of the Tirana mayor's trial in the Administrative Court, while the pressure went so far that the defendant's lawyer for another defendant, Plarent Ndreca, requested that control mechanisms against the court be activated.

Veliaj's defendant's lawyer lies publicly when he talks about media pressure

Erion Veliaj's defendant lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, at the press conference held on Thursday, 24 hours before today's session at the Administrative Court, said: "For days, in the public space and in open media sources, extremely disturbing allegations have been reported about possible attempts at institutional influence and pressure in relation to this judicial process", continuing further that "after all these developments, the suspicion naturally arises that the judge in the case may be under extraordinary institutional pressure to prevent a judicial decision from exposing the failure of the system itself to correct such a serious legal and institutional problem".

This is a lie, as after an observation made by CNA, it did not result in any media information or any pressure against the judge in the Hazbi Balliu case.

After lying publicly, Veliaj's defendant lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, comes out and attacks the ILD.

It demands that control mechanisms be activated against the court, from an institution that has attacked the ILD.

On the one hand, they attack the ILD, on the other hand, they demand that it be controlled.

On the other hand, we have the silence of the Supreme Judicial Council.

CNA reported that while this open public blackmail is considered unprecedented, there is a notable silence from the Supreme Court, allowing a serious criminal case to turn into a media and political "show".

The Supreme Court of Justice must report, must react urgently to prevent this type of standard from being created, where defendants' lawyers appear before the court the day before, 24 hours before the trial, and exert pressure on the judges.

The Supreme Administrative Court must break this silence and react to a defendant who dares to show the court the control mechanisms only 24 hours before the hearing in the Administrative Court.

The fact is, if there is any kind of pressure, blackmail, and violence against judges, Erion Veliaj has done this more than anyone else.

This is shown by wiretaps in Durrës prison, his media outlets paid by his brother, and finally the defendant's lawyer Plarent Ndreca in the press conference given 24 hours before today's session, without mentioning the insults, slander, and blackmail they inflict on people of justice./ CNA
