The process for opening online betting/ Malaj: There are still two by-laws left

Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, spoke at today's press conference regarding the process for opening online sports betting. Malaj said that there are still two remaining bylaws that are being coordinated with the Ministry of Justice.

The Minister announced that once the acts are completed, the licensing of operators that offer online betting legally will continue.

"Regarding online sports betting, there are still two bylaws that we are coordinating and agreeing with the Ministry of Justice and, as soon as the coordination and agreement is completed, we will publish them, in order to continue with the licensing of potential operators to legally offer the online betting segment ," said Malaj.

At the conference, Malaj was asked about fiscal peace, where he said that the acts for the cancellation of customs and tax duties are expected to enter into force within May.

"Regarding the by-laws for the cancellation of customs and tax obligations and fiscal peace, as I stated yesterday, they will enter into force within this month. And whether or not there will be an extension of the deadlines will be assessed, because it could happen within May, in the first or second half. Depending on how we proceed with the approval of these instructions and by-laws, we will decide whether there will be an extension or not. If there will be an extension, we will make legal interventions, because the deadlines are set by law", emphasized the Minister of Finance. /CNA
