Albania, decline in media freedom/ Këlliçi: Alarm bell indicating

Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi reacted after the Reporters Without Borders report, which stated that Albania has marked a decline in the ranking of countries for media freedom, ranking 83rd out of 180 countries in total.

The MP, in his reaction, emphasizes that under Prime Minister Edi Rama, Albania has deteriorated in the media freedom ranking.

Këlliçi underlines that this is an alarm bell that once again shows the autocratic regime of Edi Rama.

According to him, when the prime minister behaves and acts as an enemy of the press, when censorship is in action, when the editorial line of the media is controlled, when the majority of journalists and editors are under self-censorship, Albania will drop in the rankings of international organizations regarding freedom of expression.

"With Edi Rama, Albania deteriorates in the media freedom ranking!

There is no doubt that when the prime minister behaves and acts as an enemy of the press, when censorship is in action, when the editorial line of the media is controlled, when the majority of journalists and editors are under self-censorship, Albania will drop in the rankings of international organizations regarding freedom of expression.

This is also shown by the latest report by "Reporters Without Borders", where our country has lost points and is ranked 3 places lower than the last measurement.

This is an alarm bell that once again shows the autocratic regime of Edi Rama.

A corrupt prime minister, obsessed with propaganda and media control, who boasts that he is moving forward with integration, while all indicators related to democratic standards mark regression, a return to the past.

"Albania will rise in the rankings and press freedom will gain ground only when Edi Rama is no longer the country's biggest censor, when he leaves the chair from which he acts every day as the editor-in-chief of the media under his tutelage and where he attacks and throws mud at every critical voice that he has not been able to subdue or buy," writes Këlliçi./ CNA
