Under FBI investigation for computer fraud/ SPAK announces indictment for young

The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime has announced the indictment of a young man from Kosovo, while his two associates were previously extradited to the US at the height of an investigation led by the American FBI.

For Shpend Sokoli, on charges of computer fraud, a sentence of 6 years in prison was requested, while what the FBI has investigated in the Balkans is related to the illegal online market known as RYDOX.

The American-Albanian investigation revealed that the Rydox network, active since 2016, was briefly deactivated in 2020 only to reopen again.

Rydox advertised RaidForums, an online criminal forum that offered the sale of spam logs, tools to send them, and tutorials for them.

The FBI and SPAK determined that Rydox was an underground online marketplace. The indictment read against Shpend Sokoli in Albania stated that Rydox's database included information on 18,000 users, including virtual currency transactions.

The maintainer of this network, who insists he knew nothing about the criminal intent, was prosecuted in the Special Court with summary judgment.

The young man insists on his innocence and says he has nothing to do with this matter. Sokoli denies involvement with the two extradited to Pennsylvania, insisting that after he was contacted, his work was in the field of programming according to the requested services.

In this investigation, where SPAK was assisted by the FBI office based in Pittsburgh, it results that the platform has offered over 321,372 cybercrime products. /CNA
