EU Integration/Këlliçi: The process should be based on merit and not

DP MP Belind Këlliçi was part of the delegation that held a meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.

Këlliçi revealed that during the meeting, the process of Albania's integration into the EU was discussed.

During the talks, concerns were highlighted about democratic regression, the lack of free elections, corruption and the influence of organized crime in the country.

Këlliçi, through a reaction on social networks, underlines that Albania's European integration should be based on merit and not on compromise with standards.

As part of the International Democrat Union (IDU) Forum in Zagreb, we held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenkovi?.

At this meeting, as part of our delegation headed by Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, we discussed the European integration process and political developments in Albania.

Concerns about democratic regression, the lack of free elections, corruption and the influence of organized crime in the country were strongly emphasized. Mr. Berisha shared the conviction that the path to the European Union must pass through the real fulfillment of standards and not through approaches dictated by geostrategic interests.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovi? reaffirmed Croatia's support for Albania, underlining the importance of a merit-based process.

In conclusion, it was agreed to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences, with the aim of supporting democracy and the European future of Albania and the region.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Plenkovi? was accompanied by Zdravka Buši?, HDZ Vice President and MP; Andro Krstulovi? Opara, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and MP; Tomislav Leko, Deputy Head of the Prime Minister's Office; and Tea Jerkovi?, Advisor to the HDZ President.
