"Open Days" at the Vocational Technical School / Young people's

As part of the "Open Days", the Vocational Technical School opened its doors to students, parents and visitors, presenting up close the works, projects and practical skills of young people pursuing vocational education.

Creative works and projects carried out by the students themselves in various professional fields were exhibited in the school premises, attracting the interest of visitors. The activity aimed to show the importance of vocational education in preparing young people for the labor market, but also the concrete opportunities it offers for employment and professional development.

The director of the vocational technical school, Anxhela Taho, stated that in recent years, students' interest in vocational education has increased significantly, thanks to continuous improvements in the school and the increasing demand in the labor market for qualified specialists.

“Fortunately, from year to year there is an increase in interest from ninth grade students in the vocational technical school. This is mainly related to the fact of the continuous improvement that we bring to our school, but also to the attention now returned to vocational education. Vocational education and the courses offered by the vocational technical school, again fortunately, are directly related to the demands of the labor market in the Korça region, but not only. These are all courses for which there is a shortage of specialized employees today. What we are doing from year to year is also strengthening relations and improving these relations.”

One of the innovations presented during the activity was the creation of an internal digital platform by students and teachers of the ICT department, which connects the school with businesses and helps students with professional internships and employment.

According to the director, the platform will facilitate communication between the school, students and businesses, while also serving to track the progress of young people during professional internships.

"It is clearly understood that one of the strengths of vocational schools is precisely the practice in business. And today as we speak, we have a very strong relationship with business. But, to facilitate communication with them, to be closer to them, we were able to create an internal platform with students and teachers of the ICT department.

A platform where schools, students and businesses will be able to communicate with each other. Students choose businesses through the platform, businesses choose students for professional internships, but also for employment, only through this platform. It will be the school that will coordinate this agreement, where we will have the opportunity to learn the special characteristics of our students based on the comments that the business can leave. But we will also learn what really happens in business. Business mentors convey what they have to the student, but also how we will go together towards the employment of these students.”

Even the students themselves see vocational education as a concrete opportunity to build their future. Student Kevin Hysen says he chose the ICT major because of the development of technology and the numerous employment opportunities.

"I chose it because ICT is the future of the world. Everyone is moving towards IT, towards technology. Yes, I can get a job faster because everyone is opening stores, they want a website for their business and everyone has a phone that they need to fix, put things on. After I finish high school, I want to go to university. To finish university and then I can work making websites for businesses and fixing phones and computers."
