The unspoken facts on Lulzim Basha’s visit to the US

21 Shkurt 2022, 18:42, English CNA

Dismissed from the post of chairman of the Democratic Party, in strong clashes with the party base, isolated for several months in his office, Lulzim Basha will finally travel to US after 5 years. He was able to obtain a visa, only after expelling Sali Berisha from the Democratic Party.

According to a thesis that goes beyond conspiracies, and is based on many facts and evidence, Basha was one of the main contributors who asked the US for Berisha?s non-grata declaration, and blamed the latter for everything he did.

Since the burning of the mandates of the deputies, the protests, the confinement in the Tent, the boycott of the local elections, the boycott of the reforms, the opposition of the Justice Reform and so on. Anyway, now the news has come out that Basha will travel to the US.

But what do Albanians gain from this, and how much political value does have this visit? First, Basha went to the US on the eve of the previous election. In 2017, he took a photo with president Donald Trump. But he lost shamefully the election. Well, if the US Embassy in Tirana is taking Lulzim Basha to Washington for him to be ranked second in the election, it is again a spending time and energy in the wrong way.

This is because in most of the 6 municipalities Lulzim Basha will come out third, and will not win none of them. On the other hand, two of his candidates, one is being investigated for money laundering, and the other is being investigated by the Prosecution for concealing his sentence, or that he is convicted somewhere abroad.

So Basha doesn?t win the election just because he will go to the US, or because he will be photographed with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken or even President Joe Biden. The ?oxygen? that the American embassy is trying to give him by taking him to Washington at this moment, will not save Basha from another failure.

The US Embassy in Tirana, must admit that no one loves Basha anymore, and this diplomatic institution cannot support someone that Albanians don?t want. Even if they think that Sali Berisha should leave politics, they should elect someone other than Lulzim Basha at the head of the DP.

Because the latter is not accepted by any democrat, and is not voted by any Albanian. Albanians are not anti-American at all. But they don?t want Basha because they see him as incompetent, deceitful, corrupt, treacherous, and this has been shown by vote.

Let?s analyze a little further. What will happen when Basha goes to the US? Will he bring more investors from there? Not at all. Will he win the March 6 local elections? No. It will gather even more people who have personal interests, but some people who have no political contribution to make a career in the Democratic Party, as is the case of Agron Gjekmarkaj.

So Basha?s visit to the US, will only somewhat exalt his small group within the DP, which is in fact a minority. Nothing more than that. Basha?s departure to the US, doesn?t interest the Democrats at all. Because in the US, Democrats have to send someone they need to choose him as their leader.

And for that to happen, the US embassy must support another name, another political figure within the opposition. To allow the Democrats to elect the name that they want, and then see how stands the truth. There is a solution that establishes peace among Democrats.

One step back of Lulzim Basha, and one step back of Sali Berisha. The latter seems to pave the way for anyone else who wins the consensus of the majority of Democrats. So, there must be a real competition in the DP. To compete and a new chairman to come out of the race.

The chairman could then can be supported by the US embassy and many other diplomats. Then we will not have a party chairman who is not loved by the majority of the party, but by the US ambassador in Tirana. This is a problem.

The fact that the embassy is reacting harshly against the candidates who have competed with the support of the ?House of Freedom? and Sali Berisha, is again excessive. They have neither a problem nor any obligation to Berisha.

They will be elected mayor, they will serve the citizens, just as Berisha, who is called non-woman today by the USA, is serving the public many times better today than Lulzim Basha, who will go to the US, or that the government who is caught in a great corruption scandal of 430 million euros.

Albanians are not impressed that Basha can go to the US, nor from the support of the American ambassador to Basha, or from her silence towards the corrupt affairs of Edi Rama. Albanians do their calculations, they understand how things are, and on March 6, this approach of the ambassador and this visit of Lulzim Basha to the US, will probably reduce the votes of the latter.

Because the problem of Albanians is not whether Sali Berisha has been declared non-woman. The problem of Albanians is that the alternative to Edi Rama is not the right one. Their problem is that today they have no opposition and cannot overthrow the current government.

Because they have no hope. Therefore, in addition to taking a step back, diplomats need to see who they support and why Albanians will never have to vote for the elected ambassadors, as they are probably more corrupt, more accused, and should be non-grata, should have been investigated in the US, for millions of dollars, the source of which is unknown. Everyone will receive the answer on March 7, when will be counted most of the ballot boxes./CNA.al
