Incinerators, US Ambassador, SPAK and Lulzim Basha’s oxygen commission

The US Ambassador to Tirana, Yuri Kim, reacted on Friday regarding the investigation that the institutions should conduct and encourages them regarding the issue of the corrupt affair of the century, that of the incinerators.

Being one of the media that has been dealing with the investigation of this affair since the beginning, CNA.al has published hundreds of documents, which today are being used by political parties in their press conferences. I am sending a direct message, telling the ambassador, that the oxygen she seeks to give to Lulzim Basha in connection with this move, through the stance she is holding, doesn?t resolve the issue of the incinerator investigation.

First, the ambassador says ?We welcome the commission of inquiry into this matter?. Someone has to clarify that parliamentary inquiry committees in Albania are simply a failure. They do nothing else, but simply and only intervene in the investigation, sending some requests to state institutions, and getting answers they cannot investigate anything.

This corrupt affair involves everyone, the government, the opposition, the media, including the supposedly reformed judiciary, which is sleeping on incinerator files.

Basha has had this file for a long time, but used it only a few months before the elections and didn?t publish the documents.

Madam Ambassador, the incinerator affair is a corruption scandal that the media has reported, and your encouragement is imperative. But, it cannot be used politically in favor of the other party. In favor of the one, who was in fact the ?oxygen? of the incinerators.

In favor of the one who is setting up a commission of inquiry, to finally close the incinerators case. It is wrong to give oxygen from the US embassy to the man who remained silent for almost 5 years about the incinerators’ affair, the man who had these public documents, published not only by CNA.al, but also by BIRN, TPZ, or other media.

Many other media were purchased. We have proved with exclusive documents, that major media in the country were paid hundreds of millions of euros to spread propaganda in favor of incinerators. Among them are the media close to the opposition and Lulzim Basha.

Basha remained silent, and the issue of incinerators returned the day you ordered him to expel Sali Berisha from the Democratic Party. But can incinerators be investigated through a commission that should serve as oxygen for Lulzim Basha? This is worthless. This is not just an interference in the investigation, but it solves nothing.

Third, the Madam Ambassador spoke about the new justice. Yes, this is true. But it would be better to encourage even more SPAK, and go to meet its chairman Arben Kraja. The man you have supported and given everything on behalf of the US, to fight corruption.

You can also call the prosecutors in charge of that case: Klodian Braho, Dritan Prençi and Vladimir Mara. So the people who have on hand an investigation into the misappropriation of 400 million euros. These are the people who need to investigate.

They have become business partners with documents. They have circulated money from companies in Bulgaria or Albania. They have bought other companies in Tirana, and have transferred other money through media companies, related to each other, through third names, and so on.

Fifth, Madam Ambassador, SPAK prosecutors need to uncover in detail the corrupt incinerators’ affair. They need to find out where has gone the money, and bring to justice the people involved. All those who have signed.

This scandal cannot be closed only with the ?head? of Lefter Koka. He is not the ?head? of this affair. It is not understood how other implicated officials, such as Alqi Bllako, continue to go quietly in parliament. Therefore, the parliamentary inquiry commission is nothing but a soap bubble, which no one should encourage anymore.

Encouragement should be for prosecutors until everything is clear. It is enough to rely on the data of tax authorities and banks, and everything is easily clear. That?s all it takes and nothing more. SPAK should simply do its job. Games with Luli Basha don?t solve anything. They only create chaos and interference in the investigation./CNA.al
