Penultimate place and protests from fans, Pioli surprises everyone with the decision

Fiorentina fans protested outside the Artemio Franchi stadium after their defeat to Lecce. This was their second consecutive defeat in the league, after the one against Inter at the San Siro.

There were chants against coach Stefano Pioli in the stands of the stadium, while the club imposed a media silence after the match. Neither the coach nor the management have issued any statements, while the situation is being carefully assessed.

Fiorentina are in second-to-last place after ten weeks, with four draws and six losses. Pioli has not resigned, but the board is seeking an agreement to terminate his contract.

For the bench, the main name is Paolo Vanoli, while Daniele De Rossi remains an alternative. The club is also looking for a new sporting director following the departure of Daniele Prade, with Gianluca Petrachi in the lead over Cristiano Giuntoli.
