Atalanta suffers first defeat in Serie A, Zaniolo's goal decides

Ivan Juric's Atalanta suffered their first Serie A defeat this season, losing 1-0 to Udinese at the Stadio Friuli.

The defeat dropped the Bergamo team to the bottom of the table, with just 13 points from nine matches, in what is their weakest start to a season since 2018/19. Despite facing one of the weakest defences in the league, Atalanta failed to capitalise on the chances they created.

The only goal of the match was scored by Nicolo Zaniolo in the 40th minute, after a pass from Hassane Kamara. In the second half, the visitors dominated possession but were unable to find a way through. Goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi's saves saved Atalanta from a deeper defeat, but the attack lacked efficiency.

This was Atalanta's first defeat to Udinese after 16 meetings, as the hosts climb to eighth place with just one defeat in their last four matches.
